I have received outstanding care at my local VA. The doctors, nurses and other staff have been great. But on one occasion I had to go to a different VA hospital for a second opinion. Not all VA hospitals are are as good as my usual VA. The other was a nightmare. My regular VA hospital decided that a particular surgery was medically indicated, but they couldn’t get it done for 8 months. They gave me the option of using the Veterans Choice Program, and a local orthopedist took care of it in just a couple of months. The VA picked up the tab for it, no problem. I am now seeing a VA prosthetist on a regular basis, and life is good.
